Muriwai's Own Report

My Report In my learning, my favorite is writing because I think it’s easy. If you use the right words it makes it interesting for the readers to read. I also like maths because we always solve maths problems. In maths, I need to work on taking greater risks in sharing because I have gold to share but I don’t share it. In reading, I like that it’s very quiet and you can get hooked into the book and I can learn interesting words that I haven't heard of before. I am a successful learner because I don’t distract anyone while they are doing their work and I am a hard worker that doesn’t give up on my work when I need to finish it. I can also work with anyone without being angry with the people that end up in my group. This year I have won an award. The award that I have got this year was a Principal Award. Māori Learning Story

Muriwai’s Māori Learning Story When I first started Māori I didn’t know that much words. This year in Māori, I learn words from the songs we sing that are Māori. When I go to play activities and  games I have fun playing with everyone in Māori even though I get beaten straight away. When I go to Māori in my group I can help others with translating words because I can  memorise  what each word means and how to say the word. I can also learn through  songs and I can be respectful in learning Māori. Next time I go to Māori I want to share my ideas with my group by talking  because when I get inside a group I don’t share back my ideas and work. I also want  to practice with my family who knows how to speak Māori. In Māori, I can now learn words through Māori books when I'm  reading with my group and I can practice by myself when I’m at home. Swimming Learning Story

Swimming Learning Story When we arrived at the swimming pools everyone was yelling. After our play in the pool, we had to hop out and do our lessons first we had to blow bubbles. I was good at staying underwater even though I was running out of breath. After we got a pair of goggles and a swimming board. We had to swim to the flag on our stomach there and back. I was good at kicking my legs and after that, we had to swim on our back and the teacher told us to look straight up. Then we were floating on our back like a starfish. In our second session. We tried to dive down to touch the floor and get back up. We did breaststroke. My arms made me go fast through the water. The teacher told us to count 1,2,3 then take a breath. In my next lesson, we got into two groups. We were going on a boat. The teacher put all of us in a group. I was in group 5. Hard Technology

Hard Technology At technology, we changed to hard material. We had to get our chairs our teacher's name was Mr.Piller everyone had to vote for what they wanted to make most people voted for the Whizzer so everyone had to make a Whizzer. we had to get two nails, a hammer, and the shape  of our Whizzer, we had to copy it onto a wooden board so we could get started . Mr.Piller told us to draw lines down our wooden board with a ruler we, had to make sure the lines were straight after that we had to use vise to keep it stable I cut the lines with a coping saw when everyone was finished Mr.Piller cut the rest for us. We wanted to make it smooth so everyone had to smooth it with sandpaper. We needed to choose the design sign I choose an owl to paint then Mr.Piller put a string in the Whizzer. Some new tools I learned to use was how to use a coping saw, a rasp, and a vise

Workshop Reflection

Workshop Reflection When I was with Fritz we played a few games. Our first game was writing the meaning of teamwork, we each had a turn to write our  ideas down. My word was the word happy because I thought when  you are helping each other people we would be happy about it. In our  second game, we had to go into the shape of a circle while we held each other's hands and listened to what the teacher wanted us to do . The first thing the teacher told us to do was to move inwards then  outward. After that, we played a game called tic tac toe. We had to place a bib in a spot where the cones were the cones shaped as nine little squares. Once it's placed you run back to your teammates as  quickly as possible to touch them so it can be their turn and the first  team that scores three in a line is the winner. My favorite was tic tac toe because I knew I was good at it. My team won the first round but we lost in the last round.

Muriwai's Marae Learning Story

Marae Learning Story We walked up to the marae and at the marae we had a welcome. After that, some classes went back to school. We had morning tea and played outside. It was fun. There were lots of things to play like soccer. After play, we did an activity. My first activity was making a star, I made the star out of colored paper. My two colors were blue and yellow. We had lunch, there were free sausages. My second activity was making a tent. I was making the poles. I made sure I was listening to the teacher so I didn’t get lost. In my next activity, the tent our group made was cold. In my third activity I learnt how to weave a flower and then we learnt how to pick out the plant we were weaving with. After that, we went into the wharenui to take our school photos. I wasn’t staying over at the marae so we had to go back to school with the teacher. Muriwai's Art Technology Learning Story

Art Technology Learning Story When we all go to technology on the noisy bus, our group goes to art. In technology week 1 we did art and in art, we folded a piece of paper into 8 pieces, then we cut it.  My shape was a triangle we painted three triangles the three primary colors blue, red and yellow. We painted three triangles the three secondary colors green, purple and orange. I could paint my two other shapes any color. We also made pinch pots out of clay it was fun putting the clay into shape I put an “m” at the front for my name. Skills I used in my art were using good patterns that I liked to make my art look good, and using colors that go together and staying focused so I can finish my art. In art, I learned that there were more ways of drawing art, contour art, and blind art and we had to use that kind of art to draw other art and when we were creating our pinch pot I learnt what clay was made out of dirt and rocks. Muriwai's Personal Profile My name is Muriwai and I will tell you all about myself. I was born July in 27 2006 in Auckland. I am good at parkour I practice at the park or at school with my friends and I'm good at sports like basketball  and dodgeball. I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers. I have been to two schools in my life. When I was little me and my family lived in Wellington then we went to Australia then we moved back to Wellington in 2008. In school, I like when we get free Christmas presents and when we have holiday parties in the hall for one dollar . Before school, I play tag with my friends. At home, I like to watch movies and videos at night until I go to sleep. I also like to play games on my PS4 and computer when I’m bored. My dream is to be an animal instead of a human. Muriwai’s Writing Learning Story Personal Profile We have been writing personal profiles. In my personal profile, I tried to hook the readers in by using my hook and make the readers work something out for e.g, I told the readers my name and told them I was going to tell them about myself. I was good at sharing information about myself in an interesting way for e.g my family and what I was good at. Also, I told the reader that I wanted to be a animal instead of a human I used paragraphs in my writing to make it clearer and easier for the readers  to read it. The next steps I want to use another way of making the reader want to read more, like putting  in anecdotes or examples, and carefully  choosing language to create a picture for the reader. Also, I need to write really interesting hooks to hook my readers and use  clever dialogue. My personal profile is about what I'm good at, what I like to do and where I'm from. ...

Muriwai’s Music Technology Learning Story

Muriwai’s Technology Learning Story In technology, we are in group 3 music. The teacher played some songs to  check if we knew the song, artists and instruments then every group in  music had to pick out a song. We chose our instruments then we practiced  until we got our instruments right I played the piano my group's names  were Porirua and Tru. Porirua had the drum and Tru had the guitar. Next steps I want to try to learn 3 instruments next year in technology and I want to try to get one of the papers we put into the music box. I was good at the piano but when we performed and recorded our band, I  was scared. I was good at answering the questions in my book about the  songs we tried to figure out at week one of technology. In technology, the things that were hard for me was asking the teacher  for help when I was stuck on the piano and playing the piano when we  performed.

Muriwai's P.E Learning Story When we go outside and play games we play dodgeball I am good at sharing  the ball to my team so that we can all get a turn with the ball in dodgeball Next steps sometimes I stay out of the game because I don’t like the game but  I want to get into games that are hard for me so I can get better at sports and  I want to get better at catching in dodgeball and in tea ball When we played tea ball I liked to play as a fielder whenever I have the ball I  give it to my team so it will be easier to catch the batters. I don’t like to be a  batter because I can’t bat that far but this term I’m getting better at taking risks I was good at throwing the ball hard and low so the other team can’t dodge the  ball I throw or catch me out. Next steps I want to participate and take risks step out of our comfort zones and reflect on our feedback performance and get feedback so we can improve.

Muriwai's Art Learning Story In my surrealism art it was hard to draw the face shape I kept on drawing the face shape until I liked it. I drew over the lines with pastel so I couldn’t see the other lines I drew I tried to make it look like me but with different colors then I outlined my face.  In my surrealism art, I swapped my mouth for a banana because it is one of my favorite food  When I was drawing my surrealism art I kept looking at my personal profile to help me to swap something in my face with what I like and what I like to do.  I was good at coloring in my face and the back round and I was good at drawing the eyes nose and the mouth and I was good at using unusual colors for facial features. The colors I used were black, yellow, brown, red, green and skin color because those are some of my favorite colors. Muriwai’s Reading Learning Story When you read do you get a picture in your head? My book title is The boy at the top the mountain The author is John Boyne My book text type is a fiction A problem when I was reading this book was that I didn’t know what the story meant because  there were long words. I couldn’t think of what those words could mean. I am good at reading because I can analyse and synthesise in lots of books. In The Boy at  the top of the Mountain I analysed  and synthesized  and came up with my own idea - it was when the boy was in his bed he couldn’t sleep because he had bad dreams about strangers  coming into his house. I look for clues in the book and I can  locate important information . I can do this by focusing and I can find clues in the story. What I want to learn in reading next time is to infer information. I want to become a good reader and so I can read higher text levels and read big books ...
