Swimming Learning Story
When we arrived at the swimming pools everyone was yelling.
After our play in the pool, we had to hop out and do our lessons first we had to
blow bubbles. I was good at staying underwater even though I was running out
of breath. After we got a pair of goggles and a swimming board. We had to swim
to the flag on our stomach there and back. I was good at kicking my legs and after
that, we had to swim on our back and the teacher told us to look straight up. Then
we were floating on our back like a starfish.

In our second session. We tried to dive down to touch the floor and get back up.
We did breaststroke. My arms made me go fast through the water. The teacher told
us to count 1,2,3 then take a breath.

In my next lesson, we got into two groups. We were going on a boat. The teacher
put all of us in a group. I was in group 5. After that all of us put on life jackets the
teacher pushed us off a boat our teacher told us to hold our breath then we swam
back out. In that lesson, I learnt how to get on a boat safely. In our next lesson, we
were having a competition of who can keep afloat for more than 5 minutes. My team
won by 1 minute. My arms hurt a lot. The second thing we did was practice to save
each other in water so we would know what to do if it happened in real life.

All the success criteria I was good at in my swimming was putting my head under
water and blowing bubbles, floating on our tummy and back. And I was also good
at using a sculling action to keep me afloat for 5 minutes and getting into the water
in lots of safe ways.

The things I learnt were how to get on a boat safely and use long loose legs and
floppy feet to kick.
floppy feet to kick.
My next steps are to use rocket arms to cover your ears to help you glide through
the water, using the equipment correctly and safely and demonstrate correct
arm action for freestyle backstroke and breaststroke.
